Here is the new Poncho Power for the car. I had nothing but problems with the original 400 in the car so after blowing a head gasket it was 462 time... This was a running core bought locally that was completely redone. I had the machine work and lower end assembly done by Golen's Engine Service in Bedford Mass. They were a little pricey, but have top notch equipment. Then had it rebuilt at Indian Adventures Engine Specs are: 1974 455 block .030 over. TRW forged pistons with Speed Pro moly rings on polished and relieved stock rods. I installed main studs and a windage tray. I also had the entire assembly balanced. 6X-4 heads that were port matched, polished and had the EGR "bump" removed. Ferrara Valves 2.66/1.77 Comp Cams Springs, Crane 1.5 Roller Rockers, Smith Brothers pushrods. Indian Adventures Level II cam Edelbrock Performer manifold - port matched with water crossover cut free. Currently running a Cliff Ruggles Q-Jet but will soon go larger. I converted the engine to a Daves Small Body HEIdistributor and MSD 6AL unit with the MSD coil Cooling is handled by a stock waterpump with a CAST impleller and a 4 core brass radiator. A new shroud and Flex fan finish the system. Exhaust is through Doug's 4 tube headers to a Dr.Gas X pipe and Flowmaster 2.5 inch Exhaust with all stainless hardware. The car is a 4 speed Muncie M-21 I have the complete McLeod flywheel, cluch and pressure plate installed - quality unit, but a difficult company to do business with. I had the transmission rebuild by Abington Transmission and added a new Hurst Shifter. Tremec is in the future... |
